Merseyside Black History Month Group

Welcome

Merseyside Black HistFemi Sowande - Chairory Month Group (MBHMG) continues to develop and work tirelessly to ensure that the recognition and celebration of

Black History is promoted, supported and encouraged by all representatives of the various sectors and many individuals and groups across Merseyside.

The current economic climate is presenting the group with challenges but we are steadfast in trying to ensure that we build on the activities of 2010 which have been described by almost everyone as the ’best ones ever’.

The Cultural Food Feast is planned for Sunday 23rd October at the Palm House and St George's Hall has already been booked for Saturday 29th October for the Achievers Awards ceremony.  Last year saw record numbers attained by these two events.  From November 2011 we are hoping to collaborate with various organisations in organising events throughout the year.  We need each and everyone of you to help ensure that this happens.

Thanks to Diane Frost  who is donating all the proceeds from her book "Liverpool '81 - Remembering the Riots" to MBHMG.

We have new additions to the board who come with specialties to help us to continue to develop both the organisation and our activities.  Youth events will play a prominent part in our work.

We hope you will continue to support the ethos behind the development of Black History Month activites, but remember that Black History, is not constrainted to October.
